Director (2010 – present)
Bjarne has an MA in Information Technology. He has worked with digital library technology at the State and University Library, Denmark for the past 9 years. During the first five years he focussed on development of workflow system, digital repository systems and web archiving. In 2008 he became Head of Digital Resources, the IT development department in charge of digital preservation, digitisation, digital acquisition and IT-development. He has been a partner in two EU-funded projects under FP6: DPE and PLANETS.
Director (2012 – present)
Hildelies is Head of Research at the National Library of the Netherlands (KB). Before she joined the KB in 2006 she worked as a researcher in the humanities and as a manager in the museum field. In the KB she has been responsible for many EC‐funded research projects over the years, both in the area of digital preservation (PLANETS, KEEP, SCAPE, APARSEN), as in the development of innovative tools for OCR and language technology (IMPACT, SUCCEED). Two of these projects have been transformed successfully into sustainable organisations: the Open Planets Foundation (http://www.openplanetsfoundation.org/ ) and the IMPACT Centre of Competence in digitisation (http://www.digitisation.eu/). The KB has also taken part in numerous TEL and Europeana‐related projects, including the current project Europeana Newspapers. The KB hosts the offices of many international organizations in the library field, among which The European Library (TEL), Europeana, LIBER and CERL.
Director (2010 – present), Chairman (2010 – 2013)
Adam is Head of Digital Library Technology at the British Library, where he co-founded the Library’s Digital Preservation Team (www.bl.uk/dp) and initiated the Library’s dataset programme. He was Co-ordinator and Scientific Director of the EU co-funded Planets digital preservation project (www.planets-project.eu) and was a lead architect on the BL’s Digital Library System. He is President of DataCite, an international association dedicated to making it easier to identify, cite, and reuse scientific data; founder and Chairman of the Open Planets Foundation; and serves on the Board of the Digital Preservation Coallition. Prior to joining the Library, he was the principle knowledge management architect for Schlumberger (1998-2003) and research scientist at the Stanford Knowledge Systems Laboratory (1993-1998). He completed his PhD in Computer Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin (1993). Over the past twenty years, his work has focused on improving the ways in which people can represent, find, share, use, exploit, and preserve digitally encoded knowledge.

Neil is the Digital Preservation and Records Management Programme Manager at the JISC (the Joint Information Systems Committee), an organisation that funds and supports technology-related projects and services for the UK Higher and Further Education sector. JISC is influential within the UK as an innovative agent of change and maintains an international reputation for the quality and range of its funded programmes. He is currently also a board member of the Digital Preservation Coalition. Previously, Neil was a Senior Project Officer for the AHRC-funded Methods Network which supported researchers in using advanced ICT methods. Prior to that he was the IT Manager (and member of the Governing Board) at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. Neil has an MA in Computer Applications and the History of Art from Birkbeck College, London.
Director (2010 – 2012)
Hans is Deputy General Director of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB), the national library of the Netherlands. Over past 20 years he has been involved in numerous national and European projects in the library field. He has been project manager for the Dutch national programs for preservation (Metamorfoze) and digitisation (Memory of the Netherlands). In his present position he is responsible for innovation and development. He is currently involved in the further development of the national information infrastructure, with a focus on national programs and international projects in the field of large scale digitisation and digital preservation. His special interest lies in the research and development into methods and techniques for the long-term preservation of and permanent access to digital objects stored in the so-called e-Depot.

Max is Head of Research and Development at the Austrian National Library (ONB). He holds an MA in Philosophy and German Literature from the University of Vienna and has been working for the Austrian National Library since 2000. Max has many years of experience international research and development projects in the field of digital libraries, digital preservation and digitisation. He has been involved in several EU projects including Planets, IMPACT, TELplus and Europeana v1.0. He is currently project coordinator of the EuropeanaConnect project. Max is member of ONB’s Digital Library Steering Board and programme lead of Austrian Books Online, ONB’s large-scale digitisation programme with Google. He teaches Digital Libraries and Digital Preservation.
Chairman (2013 – present), Director (2010 – present)
Ross received his Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University. After moving to Vienna in 1995, he migrated to the IT sector, and joined the Austrian Institute of Technology in 2002 to help found the Digital Memory Engineering group, which he presently leads. His research interests are primarily concerned with digital preservation and semantic multimedia information management. He has been active in a number of European projects, including TELplus, Planets, and EuropeanaConnect. He is also the coordinator of the upcoming FP7 Integrated Project “SCAPE” (SCAlable Preservation Environments).
Director (2012 – present)
Michelle holds an MA in Library and Information Science and undergraduate degrees in Applied Computer Science and English Studies. After having worked as an IT project manager for 7 years, she joined the Goportis Consortia and the German National Library of Medicine (ZB MED) from 2009-2011 as a project manager for digital preservation and digitization. In 2012 Michelle joined the TIB – the German National Library of Science and Technology – as a Technical Analyst for Digital Preservation.
Director (2010 – present)
After her study in Information Communication Technology, Jacqueline worked at the computer centre of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water management for 7 years. In 1994, she joined the Dutch State Archive Service, where she was responsible for different information technology projects including the Dutch Testbed. When the institution transformed into the National Archives of The Netherlands in 2003, a Digital Longevity Department was founded. She headed this department until 2010, when she was appointed Head of the new sector Digital Innovation.
Executive Director (2010 – present)
Bram brings extensive technical and management experience to his role at the Open Planets Foundation. He was the Technical Director at Europeana responsible for moving it from a project and prototype basis to a robust production quality service. Prior to his appointment at Europeana he was a management consultant expert/advisor on Software Development Best Practices for Open Source and Collaborative Technologies. He has previously held Director and Senior Management positions in the Software and Services Industry with companies such as Rational Software, Progress Software and IBM Application Management Services. Bram has many years experience in managing large scale projects and organizations on the edge of users, technology practitioners, and in implementing state of the art technologies.
